At Made You Look, we are always appreciative of being supported and recognized for our work as innovative, creative solo entrepreneurs. We are very grateful to have been featured in Subkit as a one-of-a-kind jewellery store in Toronto and celebrated for being a woman-owned small business.
Our very own Sarah Dougall, owner of Made You Look Jewellery, was featured in a Subkit profile to discuss the store, the artists that are a part of Made You Look, and the highs and lows of owning a business.
In the piece Sarah talked about her background attending the Jewellery Arts program at George Brown College and her motivation to create a space for jewellers to come together, create, and thrive while inspiring and encouraging customers to look for custom-made jewellery.
Sarah shared her biggest accomplishment as a business owner, which is a feat all its own after being in business for 20 years.
Owning a business has its challenges too, and in the profile, Sarah shares that it can be difficult to shut off the working brain to recharge, but she also finds a positive spin, noting that “when you love what you do, it is hard to see that as a bad thing.”
For the feature, Sarah even shared her top tips for people looking to start or grow their own business, including coming up with an original idea, the three necessary ingredients for any business to become successful, and being ready and willing to do some things that don’t come naturally to you.
