Anti-Black Racism Education & Resources

It’s not enough to “not” be racist. We need to be anti-racist. It is our job to speak out, educate ourselves and promote anti-racism throughout our city and beyond. There are multiple charities and causes that you can lend your support to and we encourage our friends, families and customers to do so.

Organizations:

Black Lives Matter Toronto

A platform upon which Black communities across Canada can actively dismantle all forms of anti-Black racism, liberate Blackness, support Black healing, affirm Black existence, and create freedom to love and self-determine.

Black Health Alliance

The Black Health Alliance is a community-led registered charity working to improve the health and well-being of Black communities in Canada. Building on our track record as an effective mobilizer and champion, we continue to grow our movement for change.

Black Food Toronto

The Afri-Can FoodBasket is a community based non-profit organization that has been at the forefront of championing Food Justice and Food Sovereignty for Toronto’s African, Caribbean, Black (ACB) community since 1995.

Black Women in Motion

Black Women in Motion is a Toronto-based, youth-led organization that empowers and supports the advancement of black women, gender-non-conforming and non-binary survivors of gender-based violence.

A Toronto-based not-for-profit organization that supports, showcases and promotes an appreciation of arts from across the African Diaspora.

Harvard’s Project Implicit is designed to uncover your subconscious attitudes to race. The test will tease out a racial bias you didn’t know you might have had.

Urban Alliance on Race Relations Toronto

A non-profit charitable organization that works primarily and proactively with the community, public and private sectors to provide educational programs and research, which are critical in addressing racism in society.

Black Legal Action Centre

Established in 2017, the Black Legal Action Centre (BLAC) is an independent not-for-profit community legal clinic that combats individual and systemic anti-Black racism by conducting research, engaging in structural transformation, and providing legal services to members of Ontario’s Black communities.
